Description

Fall Sangria is a warm, inviting twist on classic sangria, capturing the essence of autumn with crisp apples, juicy pears, warming spices, and a hint of maple sweetness. Perfect for cozy gatherings or festive celebrations, it’s a simple yet elegant way to enjoy the flavors of fall in a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) medium-bodied red wine (Merlot, Grenache, or Tempranillo)
  • 2 apples, thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 2 pears, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1/4 cup brandy or apple brandy
  • 2-3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda (added before serving)
  • Ice, for serving

Instructions

  • Wash and thinly slice the apples, pears, and orange.
  • Combine the fruit slices, cinnamon sticks, and cloves in a large pitcher.
  • Pour in the red wine and brandy.
  • Stir in maple syrup or honey until dissolved.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Just before serving, add sparkling water and ice.
  • Stir gently and serve with some infused fruit and a cinnamon stick in each glass.

Notes

Adjust sweetness to taste, starting with less and adding more if desired.

Use quality wine for the best flavor.

Add sparkling water only before serving to keep the fizz.

For a mocktail version, substitute wine and brandy with grape juice and apple cider.
